American Diabetes
Association
The American Diabetes Association aims to “prevent and cure
diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes”.
This comprehensive site provides general diabetes information as
well as detailed information on current news, advocacy issues, and
outreach programs.
Colorado
HealthSite: Diabetes Center
Colorado HealthSite (CHS) provides general information on diabetes,
with links to pages covering medication, support services, and new
developments in treatment and research. Also included is an interactive
page where visitors can submit questions to diabetes health care
professionals and a diabetes library.
Diabetes Public Health Resource
Developed by the CDC, the Division of Diabetes Translation (DDT)
has the goal of taking information from clinical trials and incorporating
it into clinical and public health practices. This site contains
information on conferences, education programs, projects, and state-based
diabetes control programs. Also available is a toll free number
for public inquiries.
International Diabetes Federation
The International Diabetes Federation works with its member associations
to enhance the lives of people with diabetes. Linking to the diabetes
section provides facts about diabetes, insulin Q&A, diabetes
treatments, costs related to diabetes, diabetes prevalence, and
diabetes education.
Joslin Diabetes Center
Joslin provides information on current news, managing diabetes,
and research initiatives within the Center. Joslin’s Online
Diabetes Library provides general diabetes information as well as
information on blood sugar levels, insulin, oral medications, nutrition
& exercise and diabetes complications.
Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at
Columbia-Presbyterian
From the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at Columbia Presbyterian,
a list of FAQ’s providing information on the center and on
the treatment of diabetes.
National Institute of Diabetes
and Digestive and Kidney Diseases
The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases
provides comprehensive information on diabetes and its related diseases.
Select ‘Diabetes’ for a list on-line publications covering
topics such as diabetes in Hispanic and African Americans, diabetes
diagnosis, and Juvenile Diabetes. Spanish Language publications
are also available.
Outreach
Programs
Compiled by the American Diabetes Association, this site provides
information for nation-wide and local diabetes outreach programs.
Contact information for local program is organized by state and
can be found by entering a zip code. State-specific pages link to
local support groups, ADA recognized education programs, and screening
services.
